The Road to Victory
That was a good, once-over-the-world review of what Tom DeLay is up to these days, and by-the-by a good summary of what's wrong with the conservative movement's efforts to recapture the American imagination.
I still say any effort to re-engage the American middle-class with conservatism must begin with re-educating them -- basically reminding them why conservatism is important to their long-term livelihood. Attacking liberalism and liberals should be way, way, WAY down the list of things to do. The 1994 and -96 victories featured positive statements about how conservatism would renew and reinvigorate American life, and it worked splendidly. Not surprisingly, Obama is using that very tactic now. Conservatives, to be successful, must not allow their message to be preempted by Obama's "change" theme. Just keep hammering away at why conservatives do what they do, and trust the people to decide who's got the stronger argument.
