I was so blessed with the time to learn from Paul Weyrich as we worked together to build the Republican Study Committee and to ensure that conservative thought and action guided the Republican Congress.  Up until my last days in the House, I could count on seeing him each week in my office, lunching around a table of conservative heroes – and, of course, he was always the most revered of the bunch.  Paul was the only man in this town who knew how to revive the Right and he did so through political thought and political organization.  This is a very sad day, indeed, and his passing comes at a time when we need his leadership more than ever.  Conservatives would do well to allow Paul’s life and legacy to not only serve our memory, but to guide our future.

Following are my remarks from the Weyrich tribute dinner earlier this year…and now that this day has come, I am so happy that we were able to tell him how much he meant to us, personally, and to the conservative movement.  May you rest in peace, my friend.

Paul Weyrich is the man a generation of Washington conservatives wanted to be when they grew up.

He is one of the few men of his or any generation that combined the twin geniuses for political thought and political organization.  His greatest legacies – the Heritage Foundation and the Free Congress Foundation – have served as headquarters for conservative thinking and conservative action in Washington.  Until conservatives come together again and put these twin pillars of our movement together, we will remain on the outside looking in.  If anyone wants to know how to revive the right, just look at the life and legacy of Paul Weyrich, a man who always puts his ideas to work.

Paul, you have always been a trusted friend and loyal ally.  And now, heading into what everyone says is a liberal revival, I hope you know that none of us will let you retire anytime soon.  We need you, and your vision, now more than ever, old friend.

Tom,
when are you gonna get back in the game? Conservatives need your help in getting rid of the RINOs in the repub party!

Scotty, why don't you go read your "little red play book"?......Grownups are talking here.

Scott and Tazzmax
Scott,
I haven't been convicted of anything. I know the law doesn't mean anything to you but it is hard to convict for frivolous charges and laws that don't exist. Hate is destructive.
Tazzmax,
I am still involved in trying to rebuild the conservative movement. Go to ccmajority.org and see. Thanks for your nice words.

Tom
There are a lot of conservatives who appreciate
your contribution to our cause. We missed you
greatly the past few years.
There are always mental midgets like the one
yammering at you here, who will buy and drink the koolaide rather than seek the truth.
There a many of us who are angry with the
leaders of the party , who are like submissive dogs, rolling over on their backs and piddling on themselves whenever a Dem yips (they don't have to growl or bark). We have been begging them to stand for something and to go after the
propagandist, corrupt radicals running the other party. Thanks for standing with us.

Tom, Thank you and Merry Christmas!
And thanks for "Hammerin'" Scott. Facts mean nothing and hypocracy is everything to the koolaid drinkers.

Paul Weyrich
has blood on his hands...all those dead Americans in Iraq, and for what? Weyrich's delusional conservatism? And yeah, why isn't Delay in jail?

A Good One Passes

When giants are called to be with our heavenly father, their followers never fail to take the lead and practice the lessons they have learned from their mentor.

While Mr. Weyrich spent his entire life shaking the walls of Conservatism to keep dust from settling on it, we must now continually dust those very walls to assure our founders ideals and sacrifices are never forgotten so future generations can eulogize us with the same respect we today give to Mr.Weyrich.

Good job faithful servant. You served your master well while here living in this great land we call the United States of America.

Maybe when your elevator is capable of reaching the top floor, you will be capable of understanding how our court system cannot bring a person to trial when a Grand Jury falsely finds illegal action against them.

I am well aware this explanation is too complicated for you abilities, but maybe it will drive you to realizing your shortcomings in life and you will pursue educating yourself.
