Shall We Pause for a Moment of Truth?
Those were some wonderful clippings, Shannon. I particularly liked the following honest report (from the Politico article):
“I think John McCain needs to make a real, substantive case about how he’s going to help average voters with their cost of living, on energy, on health care and on taxes,” Lowry said. “Barack Obama is offering more middle-class tax relief than John McCain.”
My, my. How'd that happen?

Raising taxes on businesses is an indirect tax hike for every consumer. I particularly like the one where Palin thinks a baby is a blessing and not a punishment, ala Obama. Obama's stated tax policies (assuming he can get them passed) would slow down the economy even more. He has even admitted that raising capital gains taxes (which also target middle income folks) would be a bad idea during an economic slow down. If a tax hike is a bad idea during slow economic growth why is it a good idea during more robust growth?

Why a Tax Hike?
Because I want us to be out of debt. Our indebtedness to Red China is a blight on our economy, and a peril to our children's quality of life. (The Right is great about wanting children to be born, but, once born, turning their backs on them.)
Obama would end the war in Iraq, resulting in a huge savings. That's why he, too, can promise tax cuts. And I think that now the days of rampant, unrestrained earmarks are over, no matter who wins in November. Both candidates will have to solve the mess Bush created; Obama's plan seems way more direct and to the point.
The best, fastest way we can improve the economy is to get us out of this crushing debt.
