While I don't think lying to win is virtuous, I also think cracking down on freedom of speech is a slippery slope towards government control of more of our lives. I also feel that BHO is going to do everything he can to win the white house. What's he going to do, have John McCain arrested over an ad that he finds offensive? Poor baby.
And JSM needs to bring more to the table than he has. He's a much more effective statesman than the Muslim Marxist he's running against. He needs to win with the facts about Barak Obama. The lies associated with no one will be paying higher taxes that don't make more than $250,000 are just that....lies.
Do you really think that corporations pay taxes? No they do not. They pass on this cost to the consumer, so if you don't buy anything, you won't pay more, but if you buy food, clothing, gas, ANYTHING you will be paying more for it. If taxes are raised on corporations, you will be paying more....their taxes.
For those RICH people that make over $250,000, they will be less inclined to hire employees, spend money on capital improvements, etc. It's these people that employee people, not for the most part, the people making less than $250,000. Giving people a tax break for more than they pay in taxes is wealth redistribution. That is called Socialism.

He wants to raise WORKING peoples taxes to give to those too trashy to work. All his old cronies are proven thugs. I cannot afford taxes to go up anymore. We have a small business and he wants to raise self-employment taxes to the extreme on everyone. We only make around 40,000 per year and we would be included in that tax because it's across the board. I am so sick and tired of taking care of low lifes. They also need to cut out earned income credit. It is amazing to me that they can get more money back that what they pay in. In other words they steal my money and give to them. |

Sure, let pastor's tell you how to vote fom the pulpit...if they're willing to give up their tax exempt status they can say all they want. Here in Missouri I happen to know at least two churchs own some very fine water front property at Lake of the Ozarks...based on the taxes on mine I imagine the property taxes alone on that real estate might go a long way to help balance the states budget.
If they can't pay taxes then they should stick to teaching their parishoners good moral conduct and love thy neighbor as thyself. We could use with fewer politicians with a hammer attitude and more that cared about average folks that work for a living andtry to do what's right for this nation instead of what's expedient for some lobby or their re-election fund |

Ron, if they had anything to convict Delay on, they would have done so. There was no crime. The Liberal mantra has always been that it's not about the nature of the evidence, but the seriousness of the charge.
The Left trumped up charges so that due to GOP ethics rules ( that the Dems of course lack - see Rep. William Jefferson ), Delay would have to step down. Then they laid more such that he had to fight the charges instead of running for re-election.
Over the last several years, I'd seen tons or accusation leveled at GOP'ers that once the GOP'r backed off, the charges miraculously disappeared.
Wake up. If the GOP played half as dirty as the Dems, then we too could run the House for 60 years.

I live in Ohio and today the Republican Party appealed to the court to stop same day registration & voting that started today and will go through the first of October.
The courts ruled in favor of same day registration & voting in Ohio. So now the Republicans have to be very vigilent and keep very close eye on how those ballots are handled. We have to make sure there is 'one person one vote' and make sure the people who vote are legal. I think the ballots need to be quarantined until the ballots are validated legal. I'm going to call the Republican Headquarters and see what other actions they're taking to protect Democracy in Ohio. I fear ACORN is going to corrupt the vote in Ohio and the other swing states. Action must be taken to protect Democracy! |

You didn't seem to have a problem about injecting your politics on the lives of the Schindler and Schivo families over their personal argument about whether the Schindlers' daughter, Terri, should be allowed to be assisted in suicide.
And about the church and politics thing: Ever heard of the Salem whitch trials that were conducted in colonial America in the 1690s? Or more rercently, the comic book burnings conducted by most churches, chief among them the Catholic Church, in the 1950s? That is the danger of mixing politics with the pews, and thank God for Lyndon B. Johnson for doing the only thing in his career that has actually benefited America (yes, I'm saying he was a lousy president, but I digress), which is adopting the seperation of Church and State so that content-based censorship on the grounds of offending one religion can no longer take effect. Is it really that bad that you might lose your tax-exempt status? Right now, churches have more freedom to say whatever they have to say without being taxed, while others have to pay their dues or fines to the government when they say something that might offend others. Let's see.. the last two elections were won by the candidate that told the most effective lies about his opponents. John McCain was knocked out of the Republican Primary in 2000 by lies about him fathering a black child.
So the party that has been out of power that in fact has no recent history of denying citizens their rights is somehow suspect when they put a campaign together to respond to lies.
Even better, because the people who are involved are lawyers the slander against them is that they will somehow prosecute people when the clearly stated aim of the individuals is to respond via public relations and advertising to counteract lies about the candidate they support. But because they are lawyers, the slander about them and the candidate is that it illustrates the legal suppression of the right of the people to be lied to, to hear no alternative view and to be free of any other perspective that might conflict with that lie.
Hmmm. So one party has lied to take us to war, lied that they fired employees for political reasons, lied to the public about circumventing their right to privacy, lied about defending the constitution above all else and when the other party organizes an effort to counter those lies... it's an example of marxism, fascism, political manipulation and grounds to hang them for darring to present an alternative to the prevailing dogma.
